Acceleration

The Acceleration alert triggers if a vehicle has an excessive acceleration event.  Most CalAmp GPS devices include a three-axis accelerometer, which constantly monitors the vehicle for changes in motion. If a vehicle exceeds the established threshold, the device transmits an excessive acceleration event. These events display on FleetOutlook’s Breadcrumb Detail tab as an Acceleration Event.

Common Uses:

Fleet Managers receive notification if a driver is driving aggressively.

Maintenance Managers receive notification if a vehicle is being abused.

Safety officers receive notifications, which they can use to encourage compliance with safety precautions and rules.

Drivers receive feedback on their driving habits, which they can use to improve performance.

Requirements:

Device must come equipped with an accelerometer, and CalAmp must enable the device to report accelerometer activity.

Specific Configurations:

Unless there is a specific requirement for immediate action, it is recommended that acceleration events be accumulated in reports only. You can schedule the Alerts Report for automatic email delivery to supervisors or the individual driver on a weekly basis.
